Provincial Point of View

Thanks to volunteers, we have many events in and around our community this weekend to enjoy!
THE NEW MOSAIC STADIUM CELEBRATES SUBSTANTIAL COMPLETION
I was pleased to participate in the "Stadium Substantial Completion" event and have the opportunity to thank everyone involved on behalf of Premier Brad Wall and the government of Saskatchewan. The creation of the state of the art stadium has been an incredible feat. As many know, Saskatchewan is not only a place of growth but a province built on heart, community and Rider Pride!
Our government believes the new Mosaic Stadium will contribute to this foundation by enriching the lives of citizens today and in the future. This fantastic facility, in addition to being home to our Riders will serve as a place to host university and amateur sporting and provide a place where citizens of this province can gather together and share memories unique to Saskatchewan.
We dared to dream about creating one of the most elite facilities of its kind in the country, something we can all be very proud of,” said the Mayor. “We have achieved a great milestone and I am proud of everyone involved in the entire project, especially our numerous City employees and PCL.” Mayor Fougere said it’s now time to turn attention to testing the operation and event plans prior to the official opening in the summer of 2017. “This is a very exciting time for our community,” the Mayor said.
His comments were echoed by PCL Construction Management Inc.’s District Manager. “PCL has brought more than 2,000 tradespeople, contractors, consultants, engineers and administrators together to achieve a common goal,” said Sean Hamelin. “It’s with great pride that we deliver our substantially complete, multi-purpose facility to the City of Regina.”
Saturday, October 1 the Saskatchewan Huskies will be playing the Regina Rams in the first football game at the new Mosaic Stadium. The game will test the construction of the building including washrooms, public address systems and elevators. Operational plans that will support the stadium, including access and egress, transportation, parking and security will also be tested.
