For those following the Julian Calendar, this is a very special week in many homes across our province.
This year especially, we think of all Ukrainian friends and pray for peace in their country. We welcome all Ukrainians that are now calling Saskatchewan home.
"Kristos Rodyvsya" - Ukrainian for "Christ is born!" ... words that have been echoed last evening and again today across dinner tables throughout Saskatchewan as many families get together to celebrate Ukrainian Christmas. I wish you a very Merry Christmas. Enjoy your rich heritage with family and friends!
A very exciting two weeks of fantastic competition ended with Team Canada wining Gold at the World Juniors!
World Champions!
Congratulations to Connor Bedard who has been named World Juniors MVP and Team Canada . A memorable and meaningful moment with Conner was a post-game comment after winning. “I don’t want to talk about myself right now. We’re not talking about me. We just won [one of] the biggest tournaments in the world. And man, I love this team; I love this country." What a humble young man. Truly a legend in the making.
We are Canada and Saskatchewan Proud! Also playing for Team Canada were two Saskatchewan born players, Nolan Allan, Davidson and Kevin Korchinski, Saskatoon. Congratulations as well to Saskatchewan equipment manager Gord Cochran,
Both of these fine hockey players play for the Regina Pats Hockey Team. Stanislav Svozil, Pats defenceman played for Czechia. They had phenomenal games throughout the tournament. Congratulations to the great team of Czechia on winning Silver.
It was a tremendous tournament and I congratulate all players, coaching staff, volunteers, and everyone involved!
