EVERGREEN RESERVOIR / SPADINA LIFE STATION MILESTONE

Pictured above with Mayor Charlie Clark and Russ Munroe, Manger of Utility Services, City of Saskatoon

Today, I was pleased to join Mayor Clark to celebrate two significant achievements in our city.  Congratulations to the City of Saskatoon for completing two critical projects.  Together, we are investing in infrastructure that builds and protects our city and province.

We recognized the completion and grand opening of the Northeast Sector-Evergreen Reservoir and the Spadina Life Station.  These important projects add capacity and longevity to Saskatoon's water systems

Our government is proud to have played a role in bring both these projects to life.  The Spadina Life Station, built in the 1940's had reached the end of it's lifespan.  The new system will help move more than 60% of collected wastewater upstream, where it will be treated.  Under the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program, your provincial government contributed more than $5.0 million to the Spadina Lift Station.

I had the opportunity to recognize the contributions made towards the construction of the Northeast Sector-Evergreen Reservoir, which received more than $14.6 million from the provincial government through the National and Regional Projects program of the New Building Canada Fund.  This new facility has the water capacity of 17 Olympic-size swimming pools and marks the fourth reservoir in Saskatoon that collects water from the Water Treatment Plant and stores it for distribution to neighbourhoods like Evergreen, Aspen Ridge, and Willowgrove.

FAMILY FUN DAY AT BRIGHTON CORE PARK!

The Family Fun Day last week at Core Park in Brighton was a huge success!

It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces and to have the chance to chat with so many people in this vibrant community.

Thank you to everyone who came out and took the time to speak with me!

JUNE IS AN EXCITING MONTH FOR GRADUATES!

Graduation season is in full swing across the province and I send my sincere congratulations to all graduates! With a growing province, now is an exciting time to be stepping into the next phase of life and exploring all the opportunities available to you. Whether you want to work in healthcare, education, trades, or any other field – there is a job and a great quality of life waiting for you.

Every student is unique.  I send a big shout out to each student.  Not everyone wins an award or makes the honour roll.  Congratulations to all those that helped those students throughout their education.

Whether you go to work and not continue your education, be proud of your accomplishments.  Some students have to work twice as hard as others to get through.  If you are one of those young adults, you deserve recognition.

Kindness, creativity, and generousity are attributes that are important as you face the next chapter of your lives.

Your hard work and dedication to your studies has brought you to this milestone. Celebrate with your friends and family and enjoy this moment.

As you transition into the workforce, take advantage of the Graduate Retention Program! It offers $20,000 in income tax credits to post-secondary graduates who continue to live and work in Saskatchewan after graduation.
